Flow cytometry is currently a fundamental tool in hemopathological diagnosis, but also in the areas of microbiology, immunology, genetics, cell cultures and pharmacology, and is therefore widely used in the laboratory and research context. It can be used to quantify a large number of cells or particles based on size, complexity, phenotype, cell state, cell function, gene expression and to quantify these same cell properties with high sensitivity and specificity.
Biosckin, Molecular and Cell Therapies S.A. offers a flow cytometry service to researchers, companies and health professionals, either for analysis and / or diagnosis or in the context of research projects.
Some of the available flow cytometry services:
Hematopoietic stem cells
The samples that can be analyzed are: peripheral blood, leukopheresis products, bone marrow and umbilical cord blood. The samples can be fresh, deep-frozen or cryopreserved.
Using the BD ™ Stem Cell Enumeration (SCE) kit.
Mesenchymal stem cells / Pluripotent stem cells
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a population of adult multipotent stem cells that can be isolated from a variety of tissues, namely umbilical cord tissue, dental pulp, synovial membrane, bone marrow, among others.
MSCs, as defined by The Mesenchymal and Tissue Stem Cell Committee of the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT), are cells characterized by their ability to adhere to plastic; expression of specific surface markers, namely, CD73, CD90 and CD105, and no expression of CD14, CD19, CD34, CD45 and HLA-DR; and differentiation capacity in at least 3 cell lines, namely, in adipocytes, chondrocytes and osteoblasts (Dominici et al, 2006). MSCs are also known to express several cell surface markers, such as CD44, CD29, CD200, CD166, CD146 and CD271.
Using the BD ™ Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell Analysis kit.
Apoptosis
It can be evaluated using the Apoptosis Caspase-3 FITC kit that allows the study of apoptosis via the activation of caspases or using the Apoptosis Appendix V kit, which allows determining the apoptotic and necrotic pathways.
Cell proliferation and differentiation
The FITC BrdU Flow Kit quantifies cell proliferation. If used with the 7-AAD feasibility marker it allows to identify the phase of cell division (G0 / 1, S or G2 / M).
The BD Horizon ™ CFSE Kit allows the monitoring of cell divisions.
Cytokine detection by Multiplexing
The BD ™ CBA human inflammatory cytokine kit enables the detection of IL-8, IL-1b, IL-6, IL-10, TNFa and IL-12p70 in serum, plasma or supernatant samples and in a single sample.
The BD ™ CBA Human Th1 / Th2 / Th17 cytokine kit can be used to measure Interleukins-IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), Interferon-γ (IFN -γ), and levels of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) protein in serum, plasma or supernatant samples and in a single sample.
