ABSTRACT
The DEXGELERATION project aimed to develop sophisticated bone regeneration strategies and solutions that will have a patented promising injectable platform (dextrin hydrogel) that will uniquely combine other advanced biomaterials (Bonelike, stem cells, PLGA microparticles, Extracellular matrix) of the copromotors in final products. These address pressing clinical needs in bone regeneration, identified by national orthopedic surgeons (project partners). Clinical needs were identified to target critical bone defects, non-union / consolidation of fractures and osteomyelitis. The clinical potential of these new products will be validated through pre-clinical animal tests. The project also includes objectives related to the study and optimization of large-scale dextrin hydrogel production, the design of appropriate delivery devices and the preparation of dossiers for regulatory and clinical approval of tests, solutions and their critical components.
